Reflections on War, Performance Artist Marina Abramović and Ukraine’s “Fragile State”

Battered by ongoing war, political instability and corrupt crony capitalism, Kyiv finds itself in a delicate and fragile state. That, at least, was the impression I got during a recent visit to Ukraine where I had the opportunity to attend the Yalta European Strategy (YES) conference, a gathering of policymakers, businesspeople, journalists, experts and members of civil society.

The Republican Perinatal Center of Crimea, which was established in the framework of the National Project "New Life" in partnership with the Victor Pinchuk Foundation at the Crimean Clinical Territorial Medical Association "University Hospital", becomes the first institution in Ukraine to introduce surgical treatment of congenital anomalies of newborns.

20 artists shortlisted for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2013 have been announced

Today, 26 June 2013, the 20 shortlisted nominees for the PinchukArtCentre Prize 2013, a nationwide prize in contemporary art for young Ukrainian artists, have been announced. The short list has been formed by the Expert Committee based on the selection results among more than 1 000 applications submitted by young artist from all regions of Ukraine and foreign countries.
