Trickling memory

Kiev, September 28. The sun-drenched park, the hilly country. The grandmothers are kneeling before their grandchildren, young couples are sitting on the benches, there are empty vodka bottles in the bushes and the suburbs in the background – this is Babiy Yar in Kyiv.

“I FEEL the weight of history,” said Radek Sikorski, Poland’s foreign minister, at the Yalta European Strategy forum (set up by Viktor Pinchuk, a Ukrainian oligarch). The conference took place in the Livadia palace, where Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin decided the fate of Europe in February 1945. Yet Ukraine’s situation as a swing state also prompted historic reflections. Twenty years after the Soviet collapse, the country faces choices that will determine both the shape of Europe and its own sovereignty.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation provided support to four partner Cradles of Hope centers in Kyiv, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi, and Kropyvnytskyi.

29.08.2025

The Foundation covered equipment repair services and purchased components for neonatal intensive care units at the Cradles of Hope partner centers based at the Kyiv Perinatal Center, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Medical Center for Family Health, the Kirovohrad Regional Hospital, and the Khmelnytskyi Regional Hospital, with a total value of 572,000 UAH. The donation included flow sensors and breathing circuits for ventilators, temperature and pulse oximeter sensors, and other consumables.
