Challenges for philanthropy in Ukraine: The welfare/ policy dichotomy

Two events this year have significantly influenced the understanding of charity's role in Ukraine. The first was the Philanthropic Roundtable held by the Viktor Pinchuk Foundation at the World Economic Forum in Davos. It was the first philanthropy-related event to be hosted there by Ukraine and featured prominent speakers such as George Soros, Dr Tadataka Yamada, Global Health Program President at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Ukraine's First Lady, Kateryna Yushchenko, Chair of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation, and Robert Harrison, the Clinton Global Initiative's CEO. The second event was the conference 'Development of charity in Ukraine: from positive practices to favourable legislation' held by the Ukrainian Philanthropists Forum (UPF). This brought together a record number (over 80) of CEOs of active private and corporate foundations in Ukraine. They engaged in a heated debate on various topics. Russian War Crimes House now open in Davos

Today the official opening of the Russian War Crimes House took place at the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. The project, organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation and PinchukArtCentre in partnership with the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Association of Professional Photographers is located in the former Russia House at Davos. It is designed to help bring the horrific reality of Russia’s aggression in Ukraine to the attention of the world.

Victor Pinchuk Foundation and EastOne to Host Davos Ukrainian Breakfast Discussion

On May 25, 2022 in Davos (Switzerland), the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, and international investment advisory group EastOne, will hold the annual Ukrainian Breakfast Discussion, their traditional private event organized on the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). The discussion focuses on what is at stake in Ukraine, and how international partners can best support Ukraine against the Russian assault. Where is the war going, what steps must be taken now, and what is the strategic perspective for the future of Ukraine, Europe and the world?

Ukraine House Davos to Open May 23 – 25 in Switzerland

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska will headline this year’s Ukraine House Davos alongside the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting next week, appearing virtually from Ukraine.
