Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales will attend the 5th "Zavtra.UA" Youth Forum as a special guest

At the invitation of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Jimmy Wales, founder of the Wikipedia, Wiki concept creator and a member of the Board of Trustees at Wikimedia Foundation, will visit Ukraine for the first time. He will appear as a special guest at the 5^th Zavtra.UA Youth Forum on May 12-14 in Kyiv. Jimmy Wales will meet with the winners of Zavtra.UA nationwide scholarship program of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, and deliver a speech at the Forum Award Ceremony on Monday, May 14.

Also, as part of the Public Lectures project of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, Jimmy Wales will give a lecture on the topic “The Internet: Changing Tomorrow” to Internet entrepreneurs, diplomats, students and graduates of the leading Ukrainian universities, and winners of the scholarship programs of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. The 5^th Annual Zavtra.UA Youth Forum will gather this year’s winners of Zavtra.UA scholarship program – over 300 top students selected based on the results of the competition among 1 859 candidates from more than 100 Ukrainian universities.

During the events and activities of this year's Forum, entitled «How to Create Tomorrow», fellows and guests of the gathering will try to answer the question of what the future education will be like and what one should study and learn in an unstable world. They will try to predict major changes in various areas over the next 30 years, and to describe major threats faced by humanity, drafting the most favourable action plan for a new generation. The first two days of the Forum will be devoted to team building and project sessions, as well as development of social projects covering culture, healthcare, education, environment, human rights and so on.

The Forum and Award Ceremony will be attended by prominent politicians, business representatives, political and public figures. They will hold meetings and discussions with young scholars, sharing with the young audience their personal stories of success. Guests of the Youth Forum include Pavlo Sheremeta, Institute of partner strategies “Inspira”, Andrei Volkov, rector of the Moscow School of Management “SKOLKOVO”, and

Mr. Stephen Gullgren, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Ukraine.

Since the launch of Zavtra.UA, over 1700 Ukrainian students have become scholarship holders. Over the years of program existence young scholars have implemented more than 40 individual projects and initiatives, and 60 social projects, including “Nature Reserve”, “Ranok” film festival, “Art Workshop”, etc.

Also, young scholars had an opportunity to participate in the Annual Meetings of Yalta European Strategy (YES), listen to public lectures given by the 42nd U.S. president Bill Clinton, British Prime Minister (1997-2007) Tony Blair, President of Israel Shimon Peres, former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, Director of the International Monetary Fund (2007-2011) Dominique Strauss-Kahn, former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus, and others. Additionally, students regularly get involved with the PinchukArtCentre projects.
