"Cradles of Hope" Centre to be opened in Donetsk City
Yet another one neonatal centre "Cradles of Hope" will be opened on October 6, in Donetsk City on the basis of Donetsk Regional mother and child welfare Centre. It will make the 12th Centre since the launch of "Cradles of Hope" Program in 2006.
Donetsk Regional mother and child welfare Centre is a leading health care institution within the region taking care of births and bad cases related to habitual noncarrying of pregnancy and extragenital pathologies of pregnancy. The opening ceremony of the centre will be attended by representatives of governmental authorities, leading neonatology experts, paediatricians, obstetrics experts, and gynaecologists.

"Cradles of Hope" Program has been operating for one year already. During this period, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation opened the centres in Chernihiv, Volodymyrets, Poltava, Dnipropetrovs'k, Kyiv, Ovruch, Chernivtsi, Bakhchisarai, Izmail, Odessa, Simferopil'.
During nine months of 2007 over 10 thousand of newborns were treated within the program in partner hospitals with 1685 babies treated in critical care departments. In 2007 around 700 infants were reported to have been saved due to the equipment installed by the "Cradles of Hope" program. In 2006 there were 460 such children.
A total of 22 000 children have been provided with medical care at the partnering hospitals since the launch of the "Cradles of Hope" Program. To this end the Victor Pinchuk Foundation allocated 2 525 000 UAH (500 000 US dollars) in 2006 and 9 595 000 UAH (1 900 000 US dollars) in 2007.
