Davos
On the occasion of the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos the Victor Pinchuk Foundation organized the 3rd Davos Philanthropic Roundtable entitled “HI-TEACH = High-Tech + Education + Philanthropy” and the 6th Davos Ukrainian Lunch “Presidential elections: Quo vadis, Ukraine?” on January 28 and 29, 2010.
The 3rd Davos Philanthropic Roundtable “HI-TEACH = High-Tech + Education + Philanthropy” is a high-level event that brings together world renowned philanthropists, business, political and social elite to debate cutting edge approaches to inspire new and future global philanthropists. This year the debate was focused on how information and communication technology breakthroughs can boost education worldwide – and how philanthropists can act as catalysts to kick-start that process.
The roundtable took place on Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel – Davos.
The panel included Shimon Peres, President of the State of Israel; Shelly Esque, President of Intel Foundation; Melinda Gates, co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; Nicholas Negroponte, founder of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) Association Inc.; John Sexton, President of New York University (moderator); Jimmy D. Wales, founder of Wikipedia; and Victor Pinchuk, philanthropist and organizer of the event. The closing remarks were delivered by Bill Clinton, 42nd President of the United States of America. Over 300 distinguished guests from the areas of philanthropy, business and politics attended the event. The 3rd Philanthropic Round Table was supported by Western NIS Enterprise Fund (General Partner), Kyivstar and Microsoft Ukraine (Partners).
The 6th Davos Ukrainian Lunch “Presidential elections: Quo vadis, Ukraine?” is the most preeminent international annual gathering outside Ukraine where worldwide elites learn and debate about Ukraine’s political and economic challenges and investment climate. This year’s meeting took place between the two rounds of the Presidential election in Ukraine. We hosted a moderated discussion on the future of Ukraine with the two key candidates for the Presidency. The Davos Ukrainian Lunch took place on Friday, January 29, 2010, from 12:30 to 14:30 at the Morosani Schweizerhof Hotel – Davos
