Four projects of Zavtra.UA 2018 scholars will be supported by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation

On 22-24 June, 2018, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation held the 11th Annual Youth Forum in Kyiv where the Zavtra.UA programme scholars developed 15 social projects focused on addressing environmental, administrative and social challenges.

Upon jury’s decision, four best projects will enjoy technical and financial assistance of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation. Level of elaboration of a project, relevance of the subject, communication skills of the team members and their willingness to contribute to the process of the country transformation were the main selection criteria.

The first place was given to project “Watch & Vote” aiming at addressing the issue of youth’s (17-29 y.o.) poor interest and participation in elections. The project implies creating a series of social video Ads focused on the importance of making a choice and improving the sense of young people’s social and political responsibility. The developer team includes: Danylo Gerasimov, Kateryna Romaniuk, Serhiy Zhydkov, Olga Chub and Olena Kostyniuk.

The second place was given to project “SoPiLka” intended to foster the society’s tolerant attitude to children with disabilities in the way of exposing their art creations in public spaces. The project will help the society encounter and experience the uniqueness of such children’s world perception. The team members are Yulia Bryk, Nataliya Lysovets, Ivan Remezovskyi, Yelizaveta Rudyk, Yulia Pochynok, Karolina Pypka, Anna Marchuk, Olena Zeleniak.

Two projects shared the third place: “Daddy Can” and “Beauty Inside. Available to Anyone”.

“Daddy Can” is designed to support single fathers. The developers suggest creating an information site with relevant and accessible advice on unassisted child care; developing training materials for child care; and organizing trainings and consultations. Additionally, they will conceive and sell special weekly child care kits, “CareBoxes”. The project authors are: Vitaliy Plokhushko, Nataliia Polischuk, Andrii Sitkar, Dmytro Skoyri, Olga Fokaf, Dmytro Sokolivskyi, Yulia Yarosh and Tetiana Benderska.

“Beauty Inside. Available to Anyone” aims at enabling people of low income to enjoy beauty and body care services. The project will bring together customers who will get those services free of charge and beginning service providers who need acquiring practical skills. The team of developers includes: Oleksandra Potryvayeva, Romania Tyschenko, Alisa Minko, Polina Kuzina, Yulia Vonsovych.

Additionally, YEP academic business incubator network chose two teams who would have an opportunity to present their projects under the YEP STARTER programme during the STARTUP DAY in Estonia: these are “SoPiLka” and “Par Par Car Ukraine”.

“Par Par Car Ukraine” is a project that suggests creating a single application to easily monitor and book parking places in all Ukraine’s towns. Its authors are Bogdana Potiatynnyk, Tetiana Seluyanova, Oleg Sydoruk, Iryna Starenko, Olena Oliynyk, Anna Trots, Vladyslav Bandrovsky, Oleksandr Tsiapa and Tetiana Sendetska.

In 12 years of operation of Zavtra.UA, its scholars have developed and implemented more than 70 individual and 150 group initiatives. For more detail on the projects selected, please check the video.

The 11th Annual Youth Forum of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation's Zavtra.UA and WorldWideStudies (WWS) scholarship programmes brought together 400 scholarship holders, including 6 WorldWideStudies grantees who would study abroad to get a Master’s degree at the world’s best universities and 100 new Zavtra.UA scholars who would get a one-year scholarship and receive support for implementing projects in Ukraine. Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman, Founder, entrepreneur and initiator of challenge Management Volodymyr Klitschko, Dzerkalo Tyzhnya editor-in-chief Yuliya Mostovaya, businessman and philanthropist Victor Pinchuk and renowned historian Niall Ferguson took part at the official opening of the Forum.

Zavtra.UA is Ukraine’s first privately funded nationwide scholarship program, aimed at creating a new generation in Ukraine with top education and a strong sense of civic responsibility that will change the country. Since 2006, over 2500 students have joined the Zavtra.UA community.

Selecting the most talented students of Ukraine the foundation provides them with financial support to allow them to concentrate on their education. Support is also provided for projects to change society (70 individual and 150 group projects supported to date); and for developing skills, networking, exchange of experience and information.

Zavtra.UA scholarship holders are selected annually in an open nationwide competition. All students studying full time in their third to sixth year can participate. Academic excellence, leadership qualities, communication skills and the desire and ability to contribute to transforming Ukraine are the chief selection criteria.

Selected WWS and Zavtra.UA scholarship holders also have an opportunity to communicate with international leaders and absorb their ideas at the Annual Meetings of Yalta European Strategy (YES), and the Public Lectures of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
