EU enlargement has played a unique and historic role. But currently this process is not at the top of the European agenda, unlike the issue of creating the European Monetary Union, stated Niall Ferguson, historian and Harvard professor, in the debate on the future of Europe at the 9th Yalta Annual Meeting of YES.
Enlargement of the European Union would help to address the current economic problems in Europe. This opinion was voiced out by Egemen Bagis, Minister for European Union Affairs and Chief Negotiator of Turkey, at the session on “The Future of Europe” at the 9th Annual Meeting of YES.
Europe's current problems can be solved by improving decision-making in the EU and through more active involvement of the EU in global cooperation, said Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of Great Britain (2007-2010), addressing the audience in the course of the discussion “The Future of Europe” at the 9th Yalta Annual Meeting.
