The Victor Pinchuk Foundation Has Funded Repair of Equipment for the Crandles of Hope Centre at the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Centre

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has funded the repair of three compressors that support the functioning of artificial lungs ventilation devices at Candles of Hope centre on the base of the anaesthesiology department with newborn and preterm infant intensive care units of the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Centre. After maintenance and replacement of worn parts, the compressors continue continue assuming their important function. The overall cost of the reparation works is UAH 66 052.

The Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Centre was established in 2007 upon a decision adopted by the City Council on the base of the Khmelnytsky Maternity House, and provides all types of professional technically advanced medical care in the field of obstetrics, gynaecology, neonatology, newborn surgery, and ensures ambulatory, advice and diagnostic and medical and rehabilitation help to women and infants. Up to now, this obstetrical establishment has been one of the biggest by capacity in the region in terms of the number of deliveries annually.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started cooperating with the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Centre in March 2008 by launching on the base of the anaesthesiology department with newborn and preterm infant intensive care units its 13th Cradles of Hope partner centre. The Foundation has provided UAH 817 311 funds for the purchase of up-to-date medical equipment for preterm infant nursing, which allowed buying and handing to the aforementioned unit artificial lungs, an incubator, a padded platform, monitoring devices enabling control of patients’ vital functions, infusion pumps, aspirators, an ultrasound scanner and a computer with auxiliary equipment etc.

Over the period of cooperation with the Khmelnytsky City Perinatal Centre under the Cradles of Hope project (2008 – 1st semester 2019), 36 852 babies were born at the centre, including 3 387 newborns who have been treated in the anaesthesiology department with newborn and preterm intensive care units. According to the centre specialists, 3 240 infants were saved thanks to the equipment supplied by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
