The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has purchased expendables of the Cradles of Hope partner centre in Sumy

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation has purchased expendables to ensure continuous operation of the medical equipment for the intensive care unit of the Sumy Oblast Perinatal Clinic Centre as part of technical support for the Cradles of Hope partner centres. The value of the newborn phototherapy sensors and glasses handed to the centre is UAH 59 754.

The Sumy Oblast Clinic Perinatal Centre was reorganised out of the Oblast Clinic Maternity 2 in December 2001. It assumes the functions of a third level specialized high-quality help medical establishment where best perinatal techniques are actively introduced. High pregnancy risk group women from the whole region having complex obstetrical and genetic pathologies deliver at the centre. The average number of deliveries is 3000 yearly. The number of preterm deliveries is increasing every year, and therefore the number of the preterm infants with an extremely low weight (600 to 999 gram) grows. Help to gravest case babies is provided in the intensive care unit where up to 250 infants are treated every year as average.

The Victor Pinchuk Foundation started its cooperation with the Sumy Oblast Clinic Perinatal Centre under the Cradles of Hope programme in 2010 by handing to the newborn intensive care unit and the obstetric unit up-to-date medical and computer equipment of an overall value of UAH 1 245 334. Additionally, refurbishment works were made and expendables were bought for an overall amount of UAH 157 049 funded by the Foundation during the period between 2010 and 2018.

Over the period of cooperation with the Sumy Oblast Clinic Perinatal Centre under the Cradles of Hope project (2010 – 1^st semester 2018), 25 230 babies have been born at the centre, including 1 952 who have received help in the newborn intensive care unit. According to the centre specialists, more than 1 177 infants were saved thanks, among other factors, to the equipment supplied by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation.
