The world famous Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho will participate in the first awards ceremony for the winners of the “Zavtra.UA” stipend program

The world famous Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho will make his third trip to Ukraine and participate in the first awards ceremony for the winners of the "Zavtra.UA" stipend program. He will be the honoured guest along with Ukrainian-American NASA Astronaut Hidemary Stephanyshyn Piper.

The award ceremony will take place in central airplane hangar of "Antonov" Corporation, under the wings of unique Ukrainian aiplanes - "Mriya" and "Ruslan", on January 31, 2007.

At 5 p.m. Coelho, Stephanyshyn-Piper, the head of "Zavtra.UA" programme's supervisory board, Yaroslav Yatskiv, and Victor Pinchuk, the founder of Interpipe Corporation will take part in the press conference devoted to this event.

The first 200 grant-winners of the program ("zavtra" is "tomorrow" in Ukrainian), representing 14 higher education institutions from Lviv, Ostrog, Kyiv, Odesa, Sevastopol, Kharkiv, Dnepropetrovsk and Donetsk, will have the chance to talk to people whose lives are the best  evidence that diligent studies, hard work and self-reliance are essential to reaching one's goals.

The meeting with Coelho, who endured imprisonment and torture as he fought a totalitarian regime, will be an extraordinary event for the young Ukrainians, who will define the future of our country. In 1996 Philip Dust-Blasé, who was then French Minister of Culture, said about Paulo Coelho's books "...they arouse our dreams and encourage our quest for the spiritual truth."
